World's oldest person, 116-year-old woman in NY, dies

NEW YORK (AFP) - The most established individual on the planet, a 116-year-old lady in New York whose life traversed three centuries, has passed on, an exploration bunch said Friday. Susannah Mushatt Jones, the last surviving American conceived in the nineteenth century, passed on Thursday night in a nursing home in Brooklyn, said Robert D. Youthful, chief of the GRG Supercentenarian Research and Database Division, which tracks the world s most established individuals. The title now goes to an Italian lady who is more youthful by four months. Susannah Mushatt Jones was conceived on July 6, 1899 in the southern US condition of Alabama. She was one of 10 youngsters in a poor family, the girl of a cotton picker. In 1922, Jones went to New York and filled in as a caretaker before moving to California in the 1940s, Young said. She came back to Alabama before at last settling back in New York. The key to her long life? "She preferred bacon and eggs, she jumped at the chance to rest a great deal, she didn t drink and smoke, she married yet she didn t have any children," Young said. Jones was gone into the Guinness Book of Records as the world s most established individual in July 2015. In 2005, when she commended her 106th birthday, she told New York s lodging power: "I encompass myself with affection and positive vitality. That s the way to long life and joy." The world s most seasoned individual is currently Emma Morano of Verbania in northwest Italy, who was conceived November 29, 1899, Young said.
