Pakistan hire Australian Rixon to lift fielding
Pakistan Tuesday settled its guiding group for their England visit, naming Australian Steve Rixon to lift their diminishing handling gauges.
Rixon was delegated on the suggestion of head mentor Mickey Arthur, who was acquired a month ago after Pakistan s unfortunate World Twenty20 in India where it neglected to achieve the semi-finals.
Arthur replaces Waqar Younis, who surrendered in April.
Pakistan in April designated previous skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq as boss selector as they hope to enhance their rankings in one-day and Twenty20 internationals.
A Pakistan Cricket Board representative said: "We have designated Rixon as handling mentor, Mushtaq Ahmed as playing mentor for Tests, Azhar Mahmood (knocking down some pins mentor) for the constrained over arrangement," said the representative.
Rixon, 62, is viewed as a hard drill sergeant and Arthur said a week ago the group s handling "needed a colossal lift".
Pakistan leave for England on June 18 and will prepare in Hampshire before opening the visit with a three-day side diversion against Somerset from July 3.
They play Sussex from July 8 to 10 in another side amusement before tackling England in the first of four Tests at Lord s from July 14.
The Tests will be trailed by five one-day internationals and a Twenty20.
